Localization of Toys Designing in Chinese Toys Industry

From the beginning of 21st century, tendency of globalization becomes more and more manifest. Rapidly developing information network, economic cooperation within the whole world and cultural sharing has put the single nation culture into a weak state. Just like other arts and industrial designing, toys’ designing is becoming more and more globalizing. However, the same international toys designing may make the toys lose their local features.

We should understand that globalization and localization are two different concepts but they don’t conflict with each other. Localization of toys designing is still important for Chinese toys industry.

Since the reform and opening up of China, toys industry has become a mainstay industry in some places of China, especially in southern China. In addition, China has become the largest toys manufacturing country in the world. Although China exports a large number of toys to the world each year, the developing level of Chinese toys industry is not balanced. One of the biggest disadvantages of Chinese toys production is the poor toys designing ability, especially in the aspect of localization of toys designing. Nowadays, more and more toys companies realized the importance of independent creative designing. Without the independent creative designing, there would be no independent toys brands.

One task of localization of toys designing is to make the toys be suitable for the playing habits in different places of the world.

Toys can be more than just one kind of industrial products but a culture product that combines the society, economic and politics together. Therefore, in order to promote the toys designing, toys with local culture features can be developing tendency of toys industry. China is a country with a long history and rich culture. In addition, many toys have appeared in the ancient times and till now they are popular among the people.

At the same time, the toys designing should be more and more individualizing. The individualization of toys means that customers should separate the toys under one brand from other brands. Moreover, China is weak in the toys brands building compared with other developed countries.

To summarize, Chinese toys industry should go its own road of independent designing and creative road. In addition, the toys designers should broaden their thoughts and create boldly.
