A Brief Analysis of the Toys Market Prospect of China

According to statistics, the population of Chinese children below 16 years old has reached 308 million and the population of the only children took up 34 percent and has reached a number of 129 million. In all the children consumptions, the portion of toys increases from 5 percent in last year to 8 percent in this year. In the interviews with the children and their parents, we can conclude that the understanding and the needs on toys are steadily increasing in China, especially the plush toys.

The plush toys are not the toys of the children. However, people at various ages are fond of the plush toys. In addition, the functions of toys have changed. In the past, toys are just bought to the babies or the children. Nowadays, toys play an important role in people’s everyday life, such as for fun, for health and even for fashion. People buy them as ornaments or gifts for friends, which add much fun for people’s life.

In Chinese large cities, the children have average 179 RMB as pin money, which has a large influence on the family consumption. Parents would be pleased to spend money on the children’s education or toys due to they only have one child. According to the survey, 59 percent of Chinese children would determine what to buy when concerning the toys or schooling apparatus. As of the entertainments such as movies, more than half the children have the power of decision.

We can conclude from the statistics that the children in cities would spend average 35 RMB on toys each year, the adults about 12 RMB, children in rural places no more than 10 RMB while adults in villages spend almost zero on toys. If one family only buys a toy worth 10 RMB, Chinese toys market would reach a number of 4 billion RMB. With the development of Chinese economy and life standards, the number of toys consumption would become more and more.

However, there are many challenges that Chinese toys industry must face. First, it is the quality of Chinese toys. Potential safety hazard exists in a large number of toys. In addition, many toys may be harmful to the environment and the health of children.

We are certain that we have a bright toys market prospect. However, we should produce the toys with high quality. Only in this way, Chinese toys industry would have a bright future.
